Returning to direction after long gap Ashok Patil has come out with a script that is very similar to 'Truck' - a Korean film. For the standards, he has not fallen back. He gives an intriguing second half that is in a rush loaded with sentiments, surprises and brisk pace. What he needed was bringing everything under '9 to 12'. The possibilities were very bright. Compared to scores of run of the mill films Ashok Patil does not disappoint. In picking the elements that concern the society Ashok Patil deserves Kudos! '9 to 12' is a happening in three hours. Munna to fetch Rs.3 lakhs for his mother brain operation takes up a task against to his whims and fancies. He has to drop a big suitcase that is kept in his Ambassador car and safe return of it only fetch him Rs.3 lakhs. He is not supposed to check what is there in his dickey. At sharp 12 in the midnight at railway station he gets the phone call from the hospital where the preparation is final for the operation of his mother. Mentally it becomes very risky for Munna (Kishore Kumar). On his way he finds many intruders to his car. He has to surpass the police on his way further puts down his courage. How he manages the many obstacles and hand over the suitcase is not just the end part of the film. There is something more that Munna takes up to get good name for him. The stunning point for Munna is when the suitcases are opened in the railway station. This is suspense in the film you have to watch in the theatres. Kishore Kumar has given his best and the struggle he makes to reach the spot is interesting spot. BC Patil is not impressive. Nivedhita dubbing is a problem. It is not a big one for former Smitha now Nivedhita. Baby Minisha is very attractive in the innocent role. Sai Karthik has one peppy number on Bangalore. The background score for this film is impressive. Niranjan Babu struggles to move around a distant place to capture the proceedings is understandable. He has given right lighting as maximum of shoot is done in the night times. Score - 7/10 |
