Released in 2017, the movie 8 Thottakal received critical acclaim, and the movie directed by debutant Sri Ganesh starred debutants Vetri and Aparna Balamurali, and veteran MS Baskar's performance in the movie was appreciated by audience and critics alike. The movie also starred Nasser and Meera Mithun.

2 years after 8 Thottakal, the hero of the movie Vetri is ready with his next release Jiivi, which is touted to be a thriller, and is directed by debutant VJ Gopinath and is produced by Vetrivel Saravana cinemas and Big Print pictures which had also produced 8 Thotakkal.

The movie was censored a clean U recently, and now it has been made official that, Jiivi will be releasing worldwide on June 28. The movie also stars Karunakaran in a pivotal role and Monica plays the female lead. Jiivi has music by KS Sundaramurthy.
