Bhaskara Pillai, a 75-year-old man from Kerala's Kollam district has been living inside a toilet for the past seven years. The elderly man who has hearing impairment spends the entire day in the toilet room as he cannot go to work due to aging.

Even his medicines are kept inside this narrow toilet room that is located behind the house of a lady named Shyamala, who knows him for over 12 years now. Earlier, Pillai was living in a small room close to the toilet. But when Shayamala's house was renovated, the room had to be removed. As he had nowhere else to go, Pillai chose to live inside the toilet itself.

Though initially, he used to go for daily wage works, now he is completely dependent on Shyamala's family due to aging. With the coronavirus scare and the subsequent lockdown, even Shyamala couldn't afford to make her ends meet. Seeing him in distress, volunteers provide him food every day in this lockdown period.

However, he has no idea how many days he can continue like this without starving with the government provided food and stay inside the toilet.
