Amit Munnalal Jaiswal, a 7-year-old boy in Mumbai, lost his life after falling into an open drain in Dharavi. The incident which took place on Monday is the third of its kind in the past few days and occurred at Rajiv Gandhi Colony. The police pulled the boy from the drainage but it was too late. He was taken to Sion hospital and was declared dead on arrival.
On last Wednesday, Divyansh, an 18-month old boy, died in the same manner. A criminal case for lack of proper supervision of the drainage was filed against officers under section 304 A (causing death due to negligence). On Saturday, a 12-year-old boy lost his life after he fell into a pit of water created for construction purposes. The boy, Bablu Kumar Paswan had fallen into the pit near Worli on Friday. Hopefully, action will be taken to prevent such incidents in the future.
