As per a study conducted by IQAir AirVisual and Greenpeace for World Economic Forum, India has seven of the world's ten most polluted cities (measuring air pollution). Out of the 30 worst, 22 are in India.

Gurugram, Ghaziabad, Faisalabad (Pakistan), Faridabad, Bhiwadi, Noida, Patna, Hotan (Xinjiang), Lucknow, and Lahore (Pakistan) are the 10 most polluted cities on Earth.

Varanasi, the world's 14th most polluted city, has only one air-quality monitoring station despite its being represented by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The WEF says that inhalation of PM 2.5 (particulate matter in air) can lead to several health disasters, especially in children.
