Expectations were extremely high for Selvaraghavan's "7-G Rainbow Colony". It was also undoubtedly the most eagerly awaited film in recent times.
Luckily, the director did not disappoint the audience. Yes, "7-G Rainbow Colony" tops the Tamil film charts.
1. "7-G Rainbow Colony": In recent times, no Tamil film has had such a wonderful initial. Although the film had no big stars to boast of, it registered 100 percent collections even in its second week.
The credit for the success of the film goes to Selvaraghavan alone. A less talented director would have faltered in depicting such a sensitive story on screen.
2. "M. Kumaran, Son Of Mahalakshmy": This family entertainer would have remained at the top but for "7-G Rainbow Colony". Though it is in the number two position, the film directed by Raja and starring Ravi is a success.
3. "Giri": Arjun's masala film "Giri", targeted at frontbenchers, is still doing decent business despite the rain and stiff competition from the films in the first two slots. Khushboo and Sundar C., the couple associated with the film, might be heaving a sigh of relief.
4. "Chellamay": Starring Reema Sen, newcomer Vishal and Bharath of "Boys" fame, the film has just completed 50 days. It is a major achievement for all those connected with the film, and also the entire Tamil film industry. The chief minister's decision to take tough action against video pirates has helped all these new films tremendously.
5. "Bose": Excellent action, fast pace, a realistic performance by Srikkant as a commando and great on-screen chemistry between the actor and Sneha are the reasons behind "Bose's" success.
No doubt, it is a big boost to Srikkant's career as the actor has finally managed to shake off his image as a romantic hero. It is quite evident that he has worked hard on his expressions and body language. Another plus point is the film did extremely well in B and C class centres.
