67th National Film Awards:  Mohanlals Marakkar wins best film award

On Monday, the winners of the 67th National Film Awards for films released in the year 2019 were announced in a press conference at the National Media Centre, New Delhi. The prestigious National Film Awards were given out by the Directorate of Film Festivals, which comes under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

Actor Manoj Bajpayee and Dhanush won the best actor award and Kangana Ranaut bagged the award for best actress. Pallavi Joshi and Vijay Sethupathi won awards for the best supporting actors.

The Malayalam film industry bagged 11 awards. Mohanlal-Priyadarshan’s upcoming release Marakkar Arabikadalinte Simham won the best film award. Marakkar also got an award for best direction, special effects and costume designing. As there was a lot of anticipation around the film as Priyadarshan-Mohanlal combo has always delivered blockbuster, it looks like the audience can expect one of the best performances from the complete actor Mohanlal.

Meanwhile, best Malayalam movie is Rahul Riji Nair’s Kallanottam. Biryani directed by Sajin Baby got a special mention while Oru Pathiraswapnam Pole was adjudged the best popular film. Late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput-starrer Chhichhore won national award for best Hindi film.

There were 461 films in the feature film category and 220 films in the non-feature film category. Here's the complete list of winners of the 67th National Film Awards-
