Update: Tamil Nadu reports 58 new cases of coronavirus

58 more people in Tamil Nadu have tested positive for coronavirus, taking the total tally of positive cases to 969. One person has died in Erode today, taking the death toll in the state to 10.
9527 people have tested in the state in total, of which 44 have recovered and 10 have died. An official announcement regarding the extension of lockdown in Tamil Nadu has not been made by the state government yet. According to a report, about 14000 testing kits from the National Institute of Virology, Pune, are now available with the Tamil Nadu government and more have been ordered. Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami has also announced the procurement of one lakh testing kits from China.
Before making an official decision on the nationwide lockdown that ends on April 14, PM Modi held a second meeting with Chief Ministers through a video conference on Saturday. The government imposed a nationwide lockdown that came into effect on March 25 at 12.00 am and will be enforced for 21 days, in an attempt to contain the spread of COVID-19.
