It has been 56 years since Kamal Haasan, one of the pride of Indian cinema entered the film industry. Kalathur Kannamma` the film in which Kamal made his acting debut as a child artist released on August 12, 1959. Since then the journey has been filled with achievements and accolades backed by unbelievable, hard work, dedication, commitment and an unending willingness to learn and explore new things.

Kamal proves 56 is just a number as at this year of his career is going to be filled with three theatrical releases (Utttama Villain`, Papanasam` and Thoongavanam` scheduled for Diwali). Kamal has not limited himself to one profession or one language. He is a successful actor, writer, singer, lyricist, director and producer and he has achieved laurels in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi. A ling list of awards and recognitions have been added as gems to his crown.. He has won three national awards and two of Indian Government`s civilian honours- Padma Sri and Padma Bhushan.
