The beginning of this new week has brought disheartening news with it as Tamil Nadu has recorded a massive 527 new COVID 19 patients and now the total going up to 3550 with one person losing life taking the death toll to 31 so far. The majority of today's spike is through the Koyambedu Market in Chennai and the vendors and customers who visited there in the past month or so. Out of the 527 patients reported today 308 are in Chennai which is a considerable percentage.

There are now active 2107 active cases in Tamil Nadu with 1409 recovered and discharged out of whom 30 went home today. 2,863 samples were tested today out of 1,62,970 samples tested till date. 1,53,489 individuals have been tested so far. Out of the 3550 cases in the state 2392 are male, 1157 female and 1 transgender.
