In its 4th edition, Wench Film Festival (WFF) throws open the gateway to an otherworldly trip that explores the tapestry of horror, sci-fi, and fantasy genres, capturing February 29–March 3, 2024. Mumbai's Veda Factory will be transported into a cinema paradise, showing physical screenings, insightful panels, and enchanting performances in the frame of 29 carefully selected films.

On the opening night of the festival, May 9th, this year, Anshuman Jha's "Lord Curzon Ki Haveli" with Rasika Dugal and Arjun Mathur had its India premiere. Blood Thirsty (60+ minutes) will set your heart a-thumping with thrilling tales; Dwarves (10-40 minutes) showcase shorter but nonetheless sweet stories; and Elves (under 10 minutes) pack in the same level of punch as their dwarfish counterpart.

Beyond the cinematic spectacle, WFF is a bright cultural phenomenon led by the indomitable 'Chief Wench' Sapna Moti Bhavnani. Festival founder Bhavnani is very excited and said "This year, we celebrate the unique voices of Indian storytellers and filmmakers, taking audiences on a journey through the unseen, the unknown, and the unimaginable. WFF is more than an event—it's a gateway to the extraordinary."

The festival appropriates the word "Wench," taking its original meaning back (from the 13th-century word "Wenchel") as a young lady or an unmarried female. Historically associated with a negative connotation, Bhavnani's leadership empowers and reconnects the festival to its roots.

The WFF serves as a catalyst for underrepresented voices and launches opportunities for BIWOC, LGBTQ+ women, and non-binary filmmakers. This commitment to equity changes the narrative landscape in a manner where every voice can find its place within cinematic expression.

With this, the 4th edition of WFF promises to bring even a larger array of talents and to offer one heck of a film festival. From Toby Poser's international presence to the India premiere of "Lord Curzon Ki Haveli," from diverse film lengths to empowering inclusivity—plenty would be on the platter for genre enthusiasts and champions of diverse storytelling.
