Even as the Coronavirus pandemic was on the large, before two weeks, 70 students from the University of Texas at Austin who were on spring break partied in Mexico. The students then flew on a chartered plane to Cabo San Lucas, while few came back in commercial flights to Texas.
In a shocking turn of events, 44 of the students have tested positive for Coronavirus and are self-isolating. Following 28 tests turning positive, other students are being monitored and tested, revealed the university officials.
It has been very clear that the lack of awareness and discipline and the negligent attitude towards social distancing has resulted in this Austin outbreak. Many students who enjoyed the spring break violating social distancing guidelines believed that young people might not get get the coronavirus as older people. Besides University of Texas, students from the University of Tampa, the University of Wisconsin-Madison and several other colleges have also tested positive after returning from spring break trips.
