Amid the nationwide coronavirus lockdown imposed for 21 days, 32 people have been booked in Delhi's northwest region after they stepped out of their homes without wearing masks.
The Delhi government made it mandatory for people in the state to wear face masks in public places to avoid the spread of coronavirus. FIRs have been registered against 32 people who breached the system. Announcing the decision, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had earlier mentioned, "Wearing of facial masks can reduce the spread of coronavirus substantially. Therefore, it has been decided that facial masks will be compulsory for anyone stepping out of their house. Cloth mask shall be eligible too."
In an attempt to contain the spread of the virus across the country, PM Narendra Modi imposed a nationwide lockdown that came into effect on March 25 at 12.00 am and will be enforced for 21 days. It has been reported that the PM has decided to extend the lockdown upto another two weeks. However, an official statement is yet to be made.
