Filmmaker Madhu Mantena is busy working on his passion project, a grand scale Ramayan based film. He also has plans to produce other mythological epics after the relese of this one. Madhu's vision of the project is so grand that it has created an unreal hype around the project even in the pre production stage. The film is estimated to have a budget of around 300 crore INR but even that might not be enough for a film of such scale.
Talking about the budget, Madhu told TOI, "Initially we didn’t have a budget in mind and even now, there is no figure. Right now we are trying to see how we can tell this epic in all its glory. But when I started the project, I had thought we can make the film for Rs 300 crore, but today, I don’t think that much will be enough to tell this story. It is a continuous process but with Allu (Aravind), Namit (Malhotra) and me collaborating, we will hopefully be successful in presenting a story like this."
There are other mythological projects like 'Adipurush', 'Ram Setu' etc in development. When asked whether he sees them as competitions, Madhu said, "Not at all, in fact, I am really happy that stories are being made. But ours is a very different journey. We have spent four years researching and developing these worlds and visuals. We are telling our traditional, popular Ramayan and the beliefs that have been formed around it. So there is no competition. In the past it has been told in several forms and formats and we will tell our own Ramayan."
