If it is a movie starring Aamir Khan, then you can expect the unexpected. The case is no different with 3 Idiots, which also has Madhavan and Sharman Joshi alongside Khan.
Perhaps for the first time in Bollywood, the much-awaited film's soundtrack was released online via a live videoconference on the movie's (produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra and directed by Rajkumar Hirani) official portal.
The Shantanu Moitra-Swanand Kirkire team has come out with five original numbers and two remixes in the album, with some of them already topping the charts. Here's a look at 3 Idiots' soundtrack:
1. All Izz Well...
All is well with "All Izz Well"..., which is a fun-filled campus song. Sonu Nigam, Swanand Kirkire and Shaan have crooned the number with utmost energy, making the listeners to catch the zeal. If you are still not convinced, the song also has a remix version with more beats.
2. Zoobi Doobi...
A retro track with references from the rock n roll era. The number sung by Shreya Ghoshal with ample support from Sonu Nigam is perhaps the much-talked about rain song everyone is expecting. "Zoobi Doobi" too has a remix version with more contemporary sounds.
3. Behti Hawa...
Next in the list is "Behti Hawa" that has Shaan and Shantanu Moitra behind the mike. The song is nostalgic with Shaan doing a commendable job. A song about missing a friend, it could stay with you after hearing it a couple of times. Soft musical backing is the strength for this slow number.
4. Give me some sunshine...
This song has dialogues too. Vocals are by Suraj Jagan while dialogues by Sharman Joshi. It may strike a chord with the younger generation thanks to its rebel attitude. The emotion about students looking forward to relive their youth is moving.
5. Jaane nahin denge
This number by Sonu Nigam is too nice. Despite of its minimal orchestration and focus on vocals, the song gets an edge with a sudden increase in tempo during the course. The lyrics are raw and intense. So are the music and voice.
There are two remixes at the end of the album. While "Zoobi Doobi" is a little more racy, "All Izz Well" has more of modern music video kind of remix.
To sum it up, `3 Idiots' has some good quality of songs, which may impress you if are ready to listen the album more than once.
Verdict: Worth listening
