Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar nowadays is managing the perfect balance of commercial mass masala entertainers and meaningful films. His new film is produced by wife Twinkle Khanna and directed by R. Balki of Paa` and Shamitabh` fame.

The film titled Padman` is a biopic on the life of Arunachalam Muruganatham who developed an innovative sanitary napkin machine that produced quality products for women at the lowest cost in the world. The Coimbatore based Arunachalam was named in the list of 100 Most Influential People in the World in 2014 and was awarded the Padmashri by the Government of India in 2016. Arunachalam has helped millions of poverty ridden women especially in rural areas that this effort by Akshay Kumar and Balki will be another fitting tribute to his continuious great work.
