Former Union Telecommunication Minister A Raja, who released his book 2G Saga Unfolds a few days back, has stated in his book categorically that the 'revealing' of the non-existing Rs.1.76 lakhs crore scam was nothing but the handiwork of Vinod Rai, former Comptroller & Auditor General (CAG) of India. Raja termed Rai as a 'contract killer' hired to kill the erstwhile Congress-led UPA Govt. at the Centre.
Soon after a special CBI Court in Delhi absolved Raja, DMK Rajya Sabha M.P. Kanimozhi and 11 others including former Union Telecom Secretary Siddharth Behera on 21st December last year in the multi-crore 2G scam stating that the defence side had 'grossly failed' to produce evidences to support its allegations, Raja said that the entire scam didn't 'occur at all' and blamed vested interests for creating it fictitiously.
Raja had even lamented that even former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh didn't believe him when the scam 'broke out' or was 'leaked'. "Rai blamed the UPA-led Centre of committing corruption to the tune of crores of rupees but his intention was only to destroy or unsettle the Congress-led UPA regime. "I feel Rai should be arrested for this," Raja said and added that Vinod was an instrument in someone's hands.
"The BJP plays a very important role in it as they rode to power at the Centre in 2014 citing mainly the non-existent 2G scam," Raja says in his book."Inquiry should be ordered to find out who made Rai level such allegations and what the basis of his allegations was. I'm happy that Manmohan Singh later regretted about what happened to me later. I shall soon reveal more details in this regard," Raja said.
