It released amid high expectations, received a mixed response, and went on to scorch the box office. That's the story of Sarrainodu since April 22. As of tomorrow, this actioner-cum-rom-com turns 50 (days) in 115 centres.

Allu Arjun and Boyapati Sreenu didn't take these many days to mop up revenues that very fast catapulted their film into the top five league. Its surprisingly resounding success took the trade analysts by surprise. The BO pundits who dared to write off the film licked their wounds. Its success was one shot in the arm for an industry buffeted by the super disasters called Sardaar Gabbar Singh (April 8) and Brahmotsavam (May 20).

Dad Allu Aravind is proud and happy that his Stylish son-star's performance (read body language and dialogue delivery) have been gushed about by many. To refresh your memory, 'Dammu.. tannulu tannulu undhi' had sounded the bugle quite early on. Boyapati arrived. But Bunny arrived thumping himself, not on the thigh of course.

The director of super hits like Simha and Legend proved it once more that he knows the mass pulse instinctively. Thaman's music didn't promise to go on a rampage (with the exception of 'Blockbuster') at first. But days later, his sound resonated like mad. From 'MLA' to 'Athilokasundari' and 'Telusa Telusa', they all ruled the roost, contributing to the film's run-away run at the BO.

Shaking up records in Nizam, the Boyapati directorial has gone on to clock a share of Rs. 19 cr. In Ceded (Rayalaseema), Sarrainodu is has become the fourth film to cross Rs. 10 cr share, the first three being Magadheera, Attarintiki Daredi and Baahubali. Thus, this film is bigger than Srimanthudu in terms of share in the Ceded area. It's total share now is Rs. 11 cr. In Vizag and Karnataka, the film has mopped up a share of Rs. 8 cr each. The overseas figure stands at Rs. 5.25 cr. In Guntur and Krishna, the mass potboiler has mopped a share of Rs. 5.30 cr and Rs. 4.05 cr, respectively. In the Godavari districts, the share stands at Rs. 9.55 cr (Rs. 5.15 cr and Rs 4.40 cr is the break-up). In Nellore, it's Rs. 2.29 cr. In States other than AP, Telangana and Karnataka, the film has mopped up Rs. 1.60 cr. Thus, excluding satellite rights, Sarrainodu's worldwide share is pegged at Rs. 74 cr. This was as on the end of the 40th day.

As the producer has said, the success is a team work, a team that constitutes Srikanth, Rakul, Catherine, Brahmanandam, Vidyullekha Raman, besides the technicians.
