It has been 29 years since Thalapathy Vijay made his debut in Tamil cinema through the film Naalaya Theerpu and little did the audience know that he would become one of the global icons of the Tamil film industry. Thalapathy is a brand and everything he does is admired and followed by his fans.

Vijay is not only an actor, he is an inspiration and hope for many young artists in the film industry who have bigger dreams. With back too back hits like Kushi, Ghilli, and Pokkiri, Vijay’s career had been on an upward spike all along. And the real breakthrough came his way after the release of 'Thuppaki' with AR Murugadas. The film grossed over Rs 100 crores at the box office, which was an unprecedented feat for any Tamil hero after Rajinikanth.

But little did the fans know that Thuppaki was just a promo for something bigger coming along his way. The back to back hits of his next row of films namely, Kaththi Mersal, Sarkar, Bigil, and Master added a whole new dimension to Vijay’s stardom. While Master brought the uniqueness of Thalapthy on screens, his next film beast is sure to place him on the top. Vijay is now set to venture into the Telugu market as he recently announced Thalapathy 66, which will be his maiden straight Telugu film.
