A 26-year-old Indian-American TV reporter who worked for CBS New York passed away in a moped accident.

The young journalist, identified as Nina Kapur, was riding pillion on the moped in a street in Brooklyn when the incident happened. "Nina Kapur, 26, who was riding pillion on a rental electric moped, died on Saturday when the vehicle swerved and threw both her and the driver on to the road. She was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead," a police official reportedly stated. The man who was driving the moped has not yet been identified, but he apparently suffered minor injuries. "The accident ironically took place at an intersection of India Street in Brooklyn borough of New York," the police further added. A number of people in the area reportedly expressed their concerns over people riding motorbikes. "I've seen lots of people that don’t really know much about motorbikes riding the Revels and often it seems that they aren't in control of the machine. They're wobbling, they're stopping, and then they aren’t stable," a resident identified as Greg Stonge said. "We don't know how often they're actually checking to see if they have a license. Truthfully, I think there should be more stringent policies behind it," a woman named Pamela Johnson mentioned, according to a report.

In a statement released after Nina's death, CBS New York said, "Reporter Nina Kapur joined the team in June 2019 and was known for her contagious smile and love for storytelling." Reports suggest that a number of CBS' employees are devastated over the journalist's death and a few of them have been left heartbroken by the unfortunate incident.
