Rise in Kerala's COVID-19 cases

On Wednesday, Kerala reported 24 fresh COVID-19 cases, while 5 people recovered from the disease. Of the positive cases today, 12 came from abroad while 11 came from other Indian states and one person had contracted the disease through contact. With this, the total number of COVID-19 cases in the state has risen to 666.
Among the new cases, 7 from Palakkad, 4 from Malappuram, 3 from Kannur, 2 each from Pathanamthitta, Thiruvananthapuram, Thrissur, and one each from Ernakulam and Alappuzha. On Wednesday alone, 156 were hospitalized said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan during his sunset briefing at Thiruvananthapuram. Currently, 161 are under treatment at various places in the state.
Revealing that most of the new cases started increasing from May 8, soon after the arrival of returnees from other states and abroad, CM added that the public should not blame the returnees for the same. He also added that the state is trying to equip in a better way to combat the disease.
