Indian Olympics Association President N. Ramachandran told Reuters that if were to bid now to host the 2032 Olympics and the 2030 Asian Beach Games, we might get to host the games. The IOA has asked the government permission to bid for the same.
The aim is to catapult India to the centre of the international sporting arena. This could be a catalyst to improve the country`s performance in sports other than cricket. The other ambitions of the IOA are hosting the 2020 Asian Beach Games, the 2020 general assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia and the 2021 International Olympic Committee session.
He added that India was one of the few countries in the region that had the means to host events of such a scale and that it would be ideal to start early for the 2032 games as that will give “10 years to improve the infrastructure.” The IOA`s proposals will soon be discussed.
