The 2024 Parliament elections in India were conducted in multiple phases throughout April and May. The results are expected to be announced by this evening, with vote counting having commenced at 8 AM. Nationwide, the NDA alliance is leading in most constituencies, while in Tamil Nadu, the DMK alliance holds the lead in the majority of constituencies.
In Tamil Nadu, several high-profile constituencies feature cine celebrities as candidates. In Virudhunagar, veteran actress Radhika Sarathkumar (BJP) is facing off against Captain Vijayakanth's son, Vijayaprabhakaran (DMDK). Additionally, Politician Manickam Tagore is representing the Indian National Congress in the same constituency.
As the vote count details emerge, Vijayaprabhakaran of DMDK is leading with 73,622 votes in Virudhunagar. Congress's Manickam Tagore is in second place with 68,455 votes. BJP candidate Radhika Sarathkumar has received 27,240 votes, while Kaushik of the Naam Tamilar Party has secured 14,925 votes in this constituency.
It is noted that BJP candidate Radhika Sarathkumar, trailing by nearly 46,000 votes behind Vijayaprabhakaran, has a slim chance of winning. However, with only a 5,000-vote difference between Congress's Manickam Tagore and DMDK's Vijayaprabhakaran, the results could potentially change in the upcoming rounds. This is the status at 11:40 AM. The final winner is expected to be announced by this evening.
