2016: A kaleidoscope of Tollywood

New Year and a renewed cinematic vigour. New Year and a whole lot of hopes for new trends, new creativity and new records. IndiaGlitz takes a look at 2016's big-ticket releases..

Nannaku Prematho

Young Tiger will turn into a Young Sentimental-n-Debonair Tiger for a change. He will be in loggerheads with the urbane villain Jagapathi Babu. Watch out for what we expect to be an intelligent screenplay from the maverick Sukumar.

Dictator

Balakrishna is 99 films old! The more the merrier. Knowing this full well, the mass-y matinee idol has rumouredly revisited all his punch lines to refresh the memories of his fans. Watch out as the Legend-Lion rules the roost like a benevolent 'Dictator'.

Soggade Chinni Nayana

Whoever said Nag is always a romantic charmer. In 'Manam', he could be child-like. In 'Soggade Chinni Nayana' expect him to be de-glam. All in all, expect nothing less than a geeky dekko from Nag.

Express Raja

Sharwanand may not have been an 'express' so far, but if this film becomes a hit, he may well 'express' himself as a 'raja' of TFI. In Pongal race, this film locks horns with not one or two, but three bullet trains.

Aa.. Aaa..

Trivikram Srinivas is out to project a star and not a superstar this time around. Many years after dallying with Tarun, he will direct a non-superstar and the title itself is curious. Aa.. Aaa.. will hopefully have us convulsing with laughter. And who can miss the fact that he is directing Samantha for a third time!

Sardar Gabbar Singh

Power Star mania set to return this year. When 'Gabbar Singh' released in 2012, it became a synonym for craze, 'antyakshari' and, of course, Box Office 'power'. This year, it could define Tollywood's range.

Krishna Gaadi Veera Prema Gaadha

'Bhale bhale mogadivoy' will tell his 'veera prema gaadha' with Hanu Raghavapudi of 'Andala Rakshasi' fame in tandem. 14 Reels Entertainment returns with a bang!

Brahmostsavam

If it is Srikanth Addala, it means it is tender emotions, subtle narration and pleasant stuff. If it is Mahesh Babu who is with Addala, it could mean all of these and more - charm, grandeur and record-breaking, Srimanthudu-making film! Watch out for the

Chiru's 150th film

Something that is happening for the first time in this decade. A Chiru film is coming in the 6th year of 2010s. Finally, as the incredible happens, it will create ripples, flutter, waves, tides, currents, tsunami and everything all that you can imagine when it releases. Watch out for Vinayak whose career will re-Aadhi after this

Baahubali-The Conclusion

As far as the audience are concerned, 'Baahubali' is a separate industry in itself, a world like Tollywood. Helpfully, Rajamouli and Vijayendra Prasad, too, have made him their world. 'The Beginning', we conjecture, was only the beginning of Rajamouli's ascendancy as a pan-Indian cinematic phenomenon. 'The Conclusion', we arrogantly conclude, will only mean that Rajamouli's rise will never ben concluded.

Shourya

Manchu Vishnu may have failed to blow the 'dynamite' off, but this time, he is full of 'Shourya'. Dasarath will give a 'santosham' time for the hero, and of course, the audience.

Oopiri

Nag will return with another unconventional role after being a 'Soggade' with a difference. Count on Vamsi Paidipally to deliver sensibilities, and not sensational dialogues. Nag's encounter with Kollywood is going to be a big one, thanks to the presence of Karthi, a familiar face.

Sahasam Swasaga Saagipo

Chai and Gautham Menon keep us guessing as to what 'maya' they are going to flaunt this time around. The love affair we are going to be treated will be made extra-ordinary with the presence of AR Rehman. Expect a variety 'prema gaadha'.

Supreme

Sai Dharam Tej will return with a mega 'sale' pitch in 2016. Anil Ravipudi will give a 'patas' time for one and all. High on the success of 'Subramanyam for Sale' and 'Patas', the actor-director duo will steal the show with 'Dil' Raju.

Venkatesh-Maruthi film

Can we expect Venkatesh to fire doubles entendres at us? The answer is no, going by Maruthi's shuddh entertainer - Bhale Bhale Mogadivoy. What we can expect, though, is a reinvention of Venky, if he hasn't been doing it over the years. This might turn out to be a film with many quirks and hits.
