Young boy dies due to PUBG addiction

The online battle royale PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds aka PUBG has been making the headlines the last few weeks after the impact of the game, particularly on youngsters, led to adverse effects. A ban on the game has even been implemented in the state of Gujarat, with dozens of people from Rajkot and Ahmedabad being arrested for playing the battle royale despite the ban.

Meanwhile, a 20-year-old boy from Telangana was admitted to a hospital after he suffered severe neck pain. He died while the treatment was in progress. The youngster had reportedly been playing PUBG non-stop the last 45 days. This led to a complete damage of the nerves in his neck, ultimately resulting in his unfortunate death.

Recently, two men who were playing PUBG were found dead near the railway tracks of a district in Maharashtra. They were reportedly so engrossed in the game that they were unaware of the approaching train that ran them over. A boy recently wrote an essay on “how to play PUBG” in his semester exam as he hadn’t studied for the test owing to his addiction to the game.

PUBG is an online battle royale game that gained traction soon after its PC and Xbox One launch and became a sensation when the game was released on iOS and Android devices. It is one of the most successful and highly addictive games, that is popular among young adults across the globe right now.
