An accidental oxygen leak on Wednesday in Maharashtra's Nashik left at least 20 people dead, besides leaving many critical. A tanker carrying medical oxygen at the Dr Zakir Hussain NMC hospital had a leak, which couldn't be contained in time. Since oxygen supply was not ensured for patients for 30 minutes, they died.
At the time of writing, concerned authorities were trying to contain the leak. Some progress has been made on the front, if national media reports are anything to go by.
As many as 180 patients are there on oxygen support at the hospital. They are Covid-19 patients.
Initial reports said that at least 11 had died. About an hour after the incident, reports said that about 22 died because of the shortage of oxygen.
