Two-year-old Isla McNabb from Crestwood, Kentucky, USA, amazed everyone with her exceptional abilities, becoming the youngest female member of Mensa, the renowned high-IQ society. Mensa International, a non-profit organization, admits members scoring in the 98th percentile or higher on IQ tests.
Isla joined Mensa by achieving a remarkable score in the 99th percentile on the Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scales for her age. According to Guinness World Records (GWR), her parents noticed her remarkable focus. Isla began grasping colors, numbers, and the alphabet at just one year old.
“At seven months, she’d identify specific items in picture books. By 18 months, she self-learned the alphabet and started reading at two,” shared Isla’s father, Jason McNabb, with GWR.
During her second birthday, Isla astounded everyone by reading words her father wrote on an erasable tablet. She effortlessly recognized ‘red,’ ‘blue,’ ‘yellow,’ ‘cat,’ and ‘dog.’ This prompted her parents to get her tested, revealing she scored in the top 1% of the population, qualifying her for Mensa membership.
“A psychologist specializing in gifted children, though not accustomed to testing two-year-olds, made an exception after learning about her talents,” said Jason McNabb to GWR.
At three, Isla attends preschool and her parents aim for an individualised education plan to allow her to start kindergarten early. Excelling in various subjects, especially reading and arithmetic, she continuously astonishes her parents with her insatiable quest for knowledge.
