'2 States' has a very good first week

'2 States' has turned out to be a major success at the box office, so much so that it has exceeded expectations and enjoyed a very stable first week to emerge as an instant hit. With over 60 crore coming in already, the Sajid Nadiadwala-Karan Johar production is all set to enjoy a longer run in theaters, despite arrival of three new releases.

Though the collections are still a tad lower than 'Gunday' [which had fetched 63 crore in the first week], the Abhishek Varman directed film is all set to cross the lifetime collections (78 crore) of the Aditya Chopra production. Reason being that the word of mouth of this Arjun Kapoor-Alia Bhatt starrer is much better and the film has been accepted well by its target (multiplex) audience.

All eyes are now on how much further does the film go from here. While 85-90 crore is a given (which would bring it in 'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara' league), it would be interesting to see if ‘2 States’ manages to cross the 100 crore mark. If that happens, it would be yet another production outing for Sajid Nadiadwala (Housefull 2) and Karan Johar (Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Agneepath) to achieve this feat.

As for 'Dekh Tamasha Dekh', it fetched good reviews but no audience. 'Lucky Kabootar', unfortunately, didn't fetch either of the two.
