Shankar & Co have been shooting for '2.0' near Triplicane, Chennai. An incident that occurred this morning has resulted in a crew member being arrested by the cops.
According to reports, certain journos were trying to photograph vehicles near the film's set, which the crew members tried to stop. This resulted in an altercation between the crew members and the photo journos. Following complaints from the journalists that they were attacked, Shankar`s relative Pappu was reportedly arrested and assistant directors Alex and Sundarrajan were inquired by the cops about what transpired.
When we contacted producer Lyca Productions, we were told that "only arguments broke out between the two parties and no arrests have been made".
At a press meet held by director Shankar a while ago, he said that as he was shooting inside a house, he was unaware of the alleged altercation between his crew members and journos.
He expressed regret over the unfortunate incident and also assured that he would continue to insist to his crew members that they should function in a way that does not hinder public life.
Certain members of the Journalists' Association have been quoted as saying that, due to the goodwill they have towards Shankar, they are willing to accept his regret. They also don't seem to be interested in further pursuing the issue with law-enforcement authorities.
The issue is set to be amicably resolved.
