A 19-year old boy (who is married and is a father of a 5-month old infant) was arrested yesterday at Erode for raping a 13-year old girl whom he had befriended for the past few weeks.

The girl in question hails from Arachalur Village in Erode and is studying in Class VIII at a private School in Erode. Vignesh, the driver, happens to be working for the School fetching students from their homes in the mornings and dropping them back in the evenings. Vignesh reportedly kept up his contact with the girl via Facebook, Whatsapp, etc. besides calling her over phone constantly.

He abducted the girl on 22nd December on the premise of getting her something. The girl’s parents rushed to the Arachalur Police Station lodging a complaint about their missing daughter. It was later found out that Vignesh had taken the girl with him to Erode. A police team rushed to Tirupur, rescued the girl and arrested Vignesh who was later handed over to the All Women Police Station at Erode.

Interrogation of Vignesh revealed that he liked the girl and planned and abducted her. “I took her to Tirupur in a luxury bus and raped her at the sleeper-seat inside the bus,” he told the Police which confirmed his version with the girl who was later sent to medical examination.

Ramesh (22) and another minor boy (17-year old) who helped Vignesh in the act have also been taken into custody. Cases under POSCO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act have been filed against the trio.
