Kottayaa of Thottaravulabadu village in Andhra Pradesh murdered his 18 year old daughter Chandrika for talking on cellphone to her lover.  Police reports suggest that he hit her hard on the head with an axe.

The villagers who are in shock have told newsmen that only a day earlier Chandrika celebrated her 18th birthday with her family members and her dad Kottayaa had presented her with a new cellphone.  He was angered that she constantly spoke on the phone with her lover and when questioned the girl had said with finality that she would marry only him.

Psychologist in Andhra reacting to the incident have remarked that 18 is a very tough age for both girls and boys as their sexual awakening begins and it is also normal for them to fall in love.  They have adviced that parents instead of reacting angrily should approach the issue maturedly and make the youngsters understand that love is premature at that age and they should take it easy.
