A 17-year old boy was taken into custody by the police in an interesting turn to the murder of an unmarried graduate girl in Pondicherry.
Hailing from Kosapalayam in Puducherry, the 23-year old Amsaprabha was found dead at her residence on 18th December under mysterious circumstancs. The Urulaiyanpet Police, which recovered the body, sent it for post-mortem and commenced investigation into the demise which appeared like a murder from Day One.
The charge-sheet, which listed the incident first as a ‘death’, later changed the word into murder once the boy’s involvement came to be known. CCTV footage near the woman’s residence showed the 17-year old speaking to her and later emerging from her residence after several minutes. The boy was traced and arrested on charges of looking suspicious after which he confessed to the rape-cum-murder.
“I came up to catch a dove, got angry when Prabha verbally abused me and hit her with a stone. She fainted and I carried her into the room and made her lie down. Her costume got disturbed, revealing her beauty and in an uncontrollable urge, I raped her and later strangled her to death fearing she would speak about the incident,” the boy reportedly has told the police.
