The 'selfie' culture among smartphone users have created life threatening experiences for users, especially youngsters nowadays who are glued to their devices 24/7 unaware of their surrounding.
Latest to fall victim to the harrowing cases of 'selfie deaths' is the 17 year old Vishwas.G of Bengaluru. The lad along with 24 other NCC cadets were on a trip to Ravagondla Betta in the Ramanagara district where the untoward incident happened. What is more tragic is that the fact one of the photographs showed the group of students smiling while Vishwas was losing his dear life drowning.
The ignorance continued when the group left to visit a temple nearby. Only after a student noticed a drowning Vishwas in one of their selfies and the subsequent knowledge of the youngster's absence became apparent did the group went back to check on their missing friend. But unfortunately Vishwas was nowhere to be seen as already an hour had went by since the incident happened.
The youngster's bereaved parents protested in front of Vishwas's college premises calling on the negligence of the faculty to check the mishap. However, the protest was called off after the college authorities promised to take severe action against the concerned faculty members.
