17 dead in Mumbai building collapse

The fire department announced that the death toll following the collapse of a five-story building in Mumbai has gone up to 17. 13 people are injured and an equal number of people remain unaccounted for.

Investigations are being conducted to identify the cause behind the collapse. Although it is common for building collapses in the monsoon season, non-conformance to safety regulations is a major concern across the country. Earlier this week, two died when a century-old building collapsed in Kolkata.
