Chennai International Film Festival postponed to Next Year

While the entire Tamil Nadu as well as other states in the country are mourning the death of its most valiant and charismatic leader J.Jayalalitha, the 14th Chennai International Film Festival which was scheduled to happen between December 15 to 22, 2016 has been postponed.
"As a mark of respect to the sad demise of our beloved former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu PuratchiThalaivi AMMA, the iron lady who has given support to the Chennai International Film Festival continuously for the last five years, Executive Committee of Indo Cine Appreciation Foundation has decided to postpone the 14th Chennai International Film Festival to 5th to 12th January 2017. We seek the support and cooperation from all of you like previous years. " says the official Press release from the the Festival Director E.Thangaraj.
It is worth noting that the festival will have the screening of films selected for the Indian Panorama, films that won the Oscar Award for Best Foreign Language Films in 2015 and many films from countries like France. Brazil, Iran among others. Apart from these 12 Tamil films will be screened under the competitive category.
