Twelve people, including five women and three children, were killed and three others were injured on Monday night near Nagda road in Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain following a head-on collision between two cars.
“The accident took place at midnight when a family was returning home in Ujjain in the van after attending a marriage function in Nagda. The vehicle collided head-on with an SUV at Ramgarh Phanta,” an official involved in the case reported. The collector of Ujjain mentioned that Arjun Kayat, a local BJP leader, had taken his family and relatives to attend a wedding in Nagda. The impact of the collision was so much that the van was flung 50 feet off the ground. The extent of the damage caused is apparent in the picture taken from the spot. Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted a tweet on the same that read, “The road accident in Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain district is unfortunate. My thoughts are with the families of those who lost their loved ones.”
The victims were identified as Arjun Kayat, his wife, two daughters and a son, and his relatives. The people in the other car survived the impact of the crash due to airbags in their vehicle.
