Bhagheerathi Amma, a 105-year-old woman from Kerala, has appeared for Class IV exams. She gave three papers, one each in Environmental Studies, Maths, and Malayalam.

While the results are awaited, the government has decided to make her the brand ambassador of the Kerala State Literacy Mission. Taught by literacy workers for years, she took the exam at the comfort of her home under the supervision of Panchayat Secretary.

Since Amma is too old and weak, she couldn't write down the papers on her own. Her youngest daughter was her scribe.

Amma has been hailed by many in Kerala as a symbol of inspiration. Her example will be promoted by the government to inspire women to study.
