Vijay Sethupathi is the number one marathon man in Kollywood and one could say in South Indian cinema itself when it comes to completing and signing one movie after another. Currently his films 'Laabam', 'Maamanithan', 'Sangathamizhan', 'Kadaisi Vivasayi' and a few others are under various stages of production.

The Makkal Selvan recently signed on to play the role of legendary offspinner Muttiah Muralidharan in his biopic titled '800'. It was officially stated that the Sri Lankan great himself would train the actor on his body language and bowling action. It is reported that Sri Lankan Tamils have always been unhappy about Murali's affiliation to the Sinhalese governments and taking a stand against Tamil Ealam.

Reports suggest that the Tamil's in the neighboring country where there is a huge fan following for Vijay Sethupathi are appealing to the star not to portray the role of Murali whom they perceive as an enemy of the Tamil cause. It is unknown how far these reports are true and whether VJS will opt out of the biopic based on these unconfirmed buzzes.
