Leading Telugu film actor N. Balakrishna, charged with attempting to murder two film producers, was discharged from a hospital here.
The son of former chief minister, late N. T. Rama Rao, returned home over a month after he got himself admitted to a hospital minutes after shooting at two film producers at his residence here.
Family members and friends accompanied Balakrishna when he was discharged from the Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS). A large number of his fans gathered outside the hospital to cheer him.
Hundreds of his fans also converged outside his home, shouting slogans of "long live Balaiyya".
Responding to repeated pleas from his fans, Balakrishna made a brief appearance on the balcony of his house and announced he would start shooting for films in the last week of July.
Film producer B. Suresh and his assistant Satyanarayana Chowdary were injured when Balakrishna opened fire at them after a tiff over a dispute relating to a film on the night of June 3.
The actor and his wife, with the help of servants, allegedly tampered with evidence and Balakrishna got himself admitted to a private hospital.
The injured producers were discharged from another hospital two weeks after the incident but Balakrishna, though under judicial remand, remained under treatment.
A local court granted conditional bail to Balakrishna June 25. The actor was first arrested from the private hospital where he was admitted in the early hours of June 6 but sent back to the hospital an hour later.
The next day, a court remanded him in judicial custody till June 21 and ordered that he be shifted from the private hospital to state-run NIMS.
In a twist to the case, the two producers have gone back on their first statement that the actor fired at them. They now say that they have no idea who shot them.
