Narasimha Nandi's Dakshina Madhya Railway Jattu, a film to be made with the sport of Kabaddi as the backdrop, will go on the floors from August 13. 45 new artists are being introduced with this rustic entertainer, which sees Shivaji in a challenging role. Of these 45, 22 of the characters are playing Kabaddi players. Nandi is making them undergo rigorous training in the sport so as to make them look like authentic sportsmen. They are currently learning the ropes in Hyderabad and in Kanagiri, under the tutelage of an international kabaddi coach.
"We have seen some films based on the sport in the past. However, this story is different, and emotions are intertwined in the script. The film will be shot in rare locations like Kanigiri, Bhairavakona, Malakonda, Tripurantakam and others," the makers said.
"Shivaji agreed to act in the film just by listening to the concept. This film is based on a burning problem. I wanted to make a documentary on the fluoride problem. After I visited some villages and discussed about the problem with the villagers, I thought that a feature film alone will help me take the issue to a larger audience. The film tells how a band of girls bring name to their village by winning a kabaddi match," the director said.
