SRR's 100 days function saw the makers looking back with pride and speak about what went into making the film.
ANR said that Valmiki was the real hero of Ramayana, because it was the author who narrated the story of the ideal man, Rama. "Nobody would dare to make changes to the epic. Mullapudi Ramana has written in such a way that even the lay man understands the message. When Yelamanchi Saibabu first offered me the role, my wife who was not keeping well was not willing to let me do the role. I told her that having began my career by doing Rama's role, I would do well to do Valmiki's role at this stage of my career. I think the Nandamuris have been born to don the mantle of the Gods on screen. All of us have acted in the movie with enthusiasm and energy."
"When I heard the story, I felt that pulling off the role would be very difficult for me. Great actors like my father and ANR garu have donned Rama in the past. I did the role by taking them as my inspiration", Balayya said, adding that the children who did Lava and Kusha had done the role quite convincingly. He hailed the style of Bapu and Ramana, who are celebrated in Telugu households. Saying that Bapu is adept at unveiling the Navrasas on screen, he added that Illayaraja's music and Jonnavitthula's literature were great.
The producer refused to feel proud. "I was able to produce SRR because of Lord Rama's divine grace. The entire credit goes to Bapu and Ramana. I asked Bapu garu to make as big a classic as he could make. He made SRR into a visual poetry. I will make films like this in future also. I am planning to produce a film on a historical figure."
