RR Movie Makers is taking the industry by surprise by pitting its own films against themselves in the up-and-coming Sankranthi season. Here is how it is doing it. The banner is releasing on Jan. 11, The Businessman, which is produced by it. On the third day, i.e., on Jan. 13, Poola Rangadu, which is produced by Max India Pvt. Ltd., and presented by it, would be released.

On Jan. 26, Lovely, produced by BA Raju and presented by, again, RR Movie Makers, will be released. This is a classic case of competing with oneself. The banner, which has been in news for quite some time, is releasing these movies in an aggressive way.

BM will be screened in nearly 110 theaters in Hyderabad alone on the date of its release! This is unprecedented, and the biggest release worldwide may fetch it no less than Rs. 15-20 crore on the first day.

Poola Rangadu may star a minor hero, but it doesn’t stop Venkat, the baron of the banner, from releasing it in 450 theaters. This is, by far, the biggest release in Sunil’s career. Or, for that matter, any hero of his stature.

It is not surprising that Venkat has now become a force to reckon with in Tollywood. He is the man leading a mammoth production house from behind, without hogging the limelight himself.
