A few hours after he declaimed that Ram Gopal Varma Ramayanam will not be a parody or a comedy, but a very dignified and a serious drama, RGV announced that Akkineni Nagarjuna will play the role of Ravan Raj (inspired by Ravan) to a stunned world.

Tweeting about the same, he said that in this modern, contemporary interpretation of Ramayana set in today's age and world, Nag has been roped in to play Ravan Raj. To be sure, this character heads the Lanka group of industries.

We do not as yet know the details of his role in detail. It would be reasonable to guess that he will confront the good-hearted Ram Shankar and even abduct his wife Sita Lakshmi. Going by this interpretation, Nag would be playing a negative role in this film.

In which case, it will be interesting to see how Nag meets his nemesis in the film, because in the great Indian epic the evil is defeated eventually. More interesting, who would play Ram Shankar, Nag's corporate arch rival in the film?
