When it comes to aesthetics, Bapu is second to none in the long history of the Telugu film industry. In his films, even mythological characters come across as earthy and endearingly romantic. You may be an aficionado of the best films on Rama made by the great NTR, but you will still find Bapu's Sampoorna Ramayanam (1971), starring Shobhan Babu in the role of the Lord, as a class apart, never to be compared with other classics but something to be cherished and admired for its uniqueness.
Such is the mesmerising creativity of Bapu. You have guessed it right: All that we want to say is that watch out for his up-and-coming Sri Rama Rajyam. With a hands-on experience of directing Balakrishna's legendary father in the role of Rama (Sri Ramanjaneya Yuddham, 1974), Bapu is coming before us with his creation.
Earlier, he had directed the most beautiful Indian actress, Jayaprada, in the role of Sita. Portraying the actress at her graceful best in Sita Kalyanam (1976) was not a difficult job for Bapu. In 2011, he selects the improbable Nayanatara for the role of the Goddess.
The much-awaited mythological film will surely open up to marvellous collections, with family audiences thronging the theatres possibly before checking for the so-called 'positive talk.' Going by the music (Illayaraja), the movie will easily connect with the youngsters too.
Way to go, Bapu!
