Much of her fans in Mollywood really had a big shock when they realised from the media that their favourite actress Mamta Mohandas was suffering from cancer. The 25 year old actress, who celebrated her birthday on this 14th in a special way on a jumbo aircraft with 360 underprivileged kids, is but cheerful and confident about fighting the disease.

She was diagnosed to be suffering from a rare type of cancer named Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, but fortunately for Mamta and her fans, the disease has been diagnosed at a very early stage and chances of Mamta recovering from it are 100 per cent.

I had to undergo a haircut when I was acting for a song sequence in the film 'Anwar' for chemotherapy. Many thought that I had cut my hair to look beautiful and enquired about that. But I think, I faced the cancer bravely. It is a tough thing to undergo such painful treatments like Chemotherapy and radiation. But one must realise that without struggle there is no victory. This is my life’s philosophy, and so I don’t look at anything with negativity.

The actress who had built a fan base in Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Telugu had also been successful as a playback singer which even won a Filmfare award. She suddenly has got plenty of projects including 4 Malayalam films under her sleeves. She had also recently tattooed lord Ganesha on her shoulder as she believes that her mental strength to face the issues of complexity and the power to face such issues is gifted to her by Lord Ganesha.
