Happy Birthday 'Power Star' Pawan Kalyan
Send us your feedback to audioarticles@vaarta.com
Kalyan is the younger brother of Mega Star Chiranjeevi and Nagendra Babu. It takes a few years for his elder brother to earn the name and fame in Telugu film industry. But, Kalyan had everything smooth at the time of his launch as hero with a heavy fan following of Chiranjeevi. Moreover, his second brother Nagababu is a producer and another member of their family Allu Aravind is also an ace producer.
Born on September 2, 1971, Kalyan is quite simple, humble and is away from publicity. Movies were never his passion. He spent a plenty of time in his youth to practice martial arts. That practice made him to gain self-confidence and it taught to grow up in a disciplined way. Kalyan, in order to clarify the comments by some critics over his skills in martial arts organized a show in Ravindra Barathi.
After the programme, he was awarded the title 'Pawan', symbolizing Lord Hanuman. From then onwards Kalyan became popular Pawan Kalyan. He is also fondly called as Power Star by his fans. When it comes to his private life, Pawan Kalyan is a pure vegetarian. He is highly influenced by Jiddu Krishnamurthy and Vivekananda's philosophy.
Pawan Kalyan made his debut appearance through 'Akkada Abbai Ikkada Ammayi' in 1996. Though it is an average grosser, Pawan earned a good identification in the film industry. Especially his experience and expertise in martial arts boosted the action scenes in the film and made him quite popular.
After his first film, Pawan Kalyan has become choosy while selecting subjects. This had helped him in giving successive hits. Right from the second film 'Gokulamlo Sita' (1997) all his films including Suswagatham (1997), Tholi Prema (1998), Thammudu (1999), Badri (2000) and Khushi (2001) became big hits and brought him a good reputation. He was able to get a huge following with these six movies and able to make his seventh movie 'Khushi' collect more than Rs 20 crores.
All his films were dealt with different themes. However, 'Khushi' has brought a revolution in his career and proved a biggest hit of that year and the biggest hit in his career. Pawan Kalyan is known for his ease and perfect timing in comedy. He is more flexible during the action scenes as well.
After the release of Khushi, Pawan Kalyan took a long gap of two years in his film career. He went to Japan for a brief period to learn a martial art called Akido. He learnt this stunt to use in his first directorial venture 'Johnny' (2003). The film had Renu Desai in the female lead against him. Later, he married her. Pawan Kalyan's favorite director is Akira Kurosawa and hence he named his son after him as Akira Nandan. Though 'Johnny' did not fare well at box-office, it earned a good name for Pawan Kalyan as director. According to him a film is not just for entertainment or commercial profit, but it should educate the audiences. His film 'Gudumba Shankar' (2004) also proved an average grosser, as his fans expected some action-oriented film, but the film is a comedy entertainer. Next Balu (2005) and Bangaram (2006). A lot of hype was created on 'Bangaram' and there were lots of expectations on the film as it came from the makers of 'Khushi'.
Let us recall a powerful dialogue in 'Bangaram' Kattullo, Kodavallalo kaaduraa gundello untundi pourusham antey Adi ee Bangaram ki kaavalasinta undi . ('Guts will be there in one's heart and not in swords or sickles. It is abundant in this 'Bangaram'). This statement in his reel life applies to his real life as well.
Pawan Kalyan never felt disappointed with failures and is now working with a renewed vigor. He is maintaining a low and secret profile about his latest film 'Annavaram', a remake of Tamil blockbuster 'Tirupachi', which is being directed by Bhimaneni Srinivasa Rao and jointly produced by N.V. Prasad and Paras Jain on the banner of Mega Super Good films. Asin is pairing up with him in the female lead and Sandhya of 'Premiste'-fame is donning the role of his sister. Moreover, for the first time, his mega brother Nagababu is also doing a powerful police officer's role in that film. We have to wait and watch the character and characterization of the Power Star in 'Annavaram'. Hope he would look novel, different and stylish in this latest film. The entire unit kept their fingers crossed and did not reveal even a small hint about 'Annavaram'.
Let us wish 'Power Star' Pawan Kalyan a Happy Birthday and wish his latest flick 'Annavaram' a big hit.
