In the year 1989 a movie came called Shiva, starring Nagarjuna and Amala in the lead roles, which changed the face of the Telugu Film Industry. A relative newcomer Ram Gopal Varma, who later went to become a director of national repute with a diffirence, directed the film. After seventeen years of the release of the film Shiva, Ram Gopal Varma is making a film on the same lines but this time around it will be a police backdrop, which will be in vogue. The film produced by R.G.V.Films banner has completed its shooting and is ready for release on 25th of August. James Mohit and Amoha (Nisha Kothari) are the lead pair in the film.
Talking about this film the dialogue writer Kona Venkat said, "Yesterdays Shiva led a rebellion against presence of hooligans and criminals in the educational sector, Todays Shiva-2006 leads a revolution against the corrupt police system infested with criminals and parasites. After seventeen long years, Ram Gopal Varma and Music Maestro Ilayaraja have come together to recreate the lost musical magic at the box-office".
When one talks about Shiva, they instantly recall the song Botany Paatamundi; same song will be used in this film with the setting of police backdrop in the behind. Polisula Neerasthulaitha is the tagline of the film. Ilayaraja has sung one song in the film. Stunt directors Ram and Lakshman, who are popular in the Telugu film industry as fight masters, will be stepping into the Bollywood with this film. Ram Gopal Varma was extremely impressed with the work done by them in the film Shock and this led to him presenting them with an opportunity to work with him again. Another noticeable factor is that they are playing major roles in the film.
Mohit, Amoha (Nisha Kothari), Upendra, Sherveer, Ram, Lakshman and others are part of the impressive lineup. Music is by Ilayaraja; songs are by Sirivennela Seetarama Sastry, Cinematography is by Amal, dialogues are by Kona Venkat and stunts are by Ram and Lakshman.
The story, screenplay, production and direction are by Ram Gopal Varma.
