Big stars, despite the occasional flops, are never really threatened from their perch.

But Venkatesh's case looks different.

He is a star who is on the verge of becoming a has-been. A succession of poor choice of films and roles has left him desperate for success.

That is why his just launched Lakshmi is very critical for his survival in the industry.

And he knows that. Hence, he kept the film's launch a rather laidback affair.

Directed by V V Vinayak, the film stars him and Charmy and Nayantra in the leads. The film is produced by Nallapalupu Srinivas and will begin regular shoot from August 22.

Venky is playing the eponymous role of Lakshminarayana.

He has to now live up to his name, in more ways than one.
