The big release of the week is Premikulu. Starring Yuvraj and Kamna, the film carries good trade prospects.

Though it has taken time to make it to the theaters,Premikulu is not a big budget film.

Just as well. For, some strange reason, big projects have come a cropper at the box office while smaller ones, with tight budgets and tighter screenplay have made it past the winning post.

This season, the biggies like Andarivadu, Super have not had the desired effect on the box office.

On the contrary films like Anukokunda Oka Roju and A Film By Aravind have done well.

Of course, it is not budget, but just gritty stories and commonsense handling that have seen these films do well.

Yet, the point is that the audiences seem no longer overawed by sheer size and glitz.

Aparichitudu, a big movie by all stretches of imagination, did well because it had a story to tell. And it told it well.

Moral of the story: Tighten your belts, loosen your imagination.

Are the actors and directors listening?
