Take some of the very big flops in the last six months or so and check out what is common between them?

Balu ---ABCDEFG, Vijayendra Varma, Suryam, Gudumba Shankar, Arjun, Sambha, Naa Alludu, Dhana 51, Aptudu

Does anything strike you? Well most of them have been action flicks.

Conversely, check out the main hits in the last one year ---Shankar Dada MBBS, Varsham, Arya, Mass, Anand

Don't you think most of them have been fun and love stories? Even Mass and Varsham, which had their share of violence and action, was couched in a romantic cover.

The talk in Tollywood, especially after the Sankranthi disasters is that action-oriented films are no longer favorites among the cine-goers. "The proof is all there for you to see," says Sivaprasad Rao, a well-known trade analyst. "Most of the action films have not succeeded. On the contrary, love themes have clicked. You take whatever inference you want to".

Even Tollywood producers, who are pretty nifty in understanding prevailing mores and ideas, conceded that people may not no longer be enamored by heroes flying and kicking the villains around. "Perhaps that is stretching the incredulity. Perhaps they don't like the graphics-enhanced sequences. Perhaps violent acts have started wearing thing," says a leading producer who doesn't want to be identified. For his part, he is planning to change the story of his next movie --- bringing in more fun and romance. A few heroes too are switching over to love and soft-focus themes, keeping the blood and gore to a limit.

But a few story writers say this is all a cyclical developments. One season comedies will click. In another, actions will. Now is the time for musical love subjects. "There is nothing certain in the industry," they say.

Maybe or may not be. We are not certain.
